I remember getting my first pair of glasses when I was 15 years old. I hated wearing them, and like most teenagers, tried to avoid them when possible. By the time I got to college I faced up to the inevitable. My eyes were broken and only glasses or contacts could fix them. I disliked both enough to consider a very early form of surgical correction in the early 1980s called RK. Luckily, a wise eye doctor advised me to wait until something better came along. By the time I began my specialty training for Ophthalmology in 1993, it was clear that a new era of correcting vision with laser surgery was about to dawn. I focused my studies on this exciting new field. I was lucky enough to be present at the Casey Eye Institute when they began performing laser vision correction in 1995. By 1998 I had seen enough excellent outcomes; I decided to undergo the surgery on my own eyes. I was amazed that technology could solve my decades of nearsightedness and astigmatism overnight. I see better than 20/20. My perspective on all outdoor sports (and on our rainy climate) changed completely. No more cleaning the glasses! No more hassles with the contacts! I began to perform the surgery in 1998 with the conviction of one who truly believes we have a safe and effective alternative to glasses and contacts. Your own decision to have vision correction surgery is very personal. It can be both exciting and frightening. I have performed this surgery hundreds of times each year since 1998, including doing surgery on many of our staff at Eye Health Northwest. I have treated many nurses and physicians in our community. I have even treated one of my partners, a fellow eye surgeon, and my wife. These experiences have given me great confidence in these procedures. My goal is to have your vision correction surgery be the best medical experience youve ever had. My staffs mission is to treat you with courtesy and promptness. We believe in fully educating our patients, giving them the time and resources needed to make good decisions about the health of their eyes. Our focus is on your individual needs. I consult with each patient at least twice before surgery during the pre-operative evaluations. This methodical and detail oriented approach pays off when the day of surgery arrives. Typically patients are relaxed and comfortable with the entire process. The real reward comes in the days, weeks, and months following surgery. Currently over 90% of our patients see 20/20 or better. Both doctor and patient satisfaction have never been higher. I welcome you to explore our website, speak to our staff, or visit the clinic for a consultation. Let us find out what laser vision correction can do for you. Sincerely,
